"I guess Apple figures people like to do nothing while watching a beach ball of death. Oh look! It's so pretty! Wait, why can't I do anything on my computer right now"Yeah when one application freezes in OSX the whole operating system dosent crash like XP. Use a Mac sometime you'd be suprised how stable it is.
"Well, to be fair, Office's splash screens are, "un-flashy", nonobtrusive, and don't really stay around for that long."aha, so that was the reason OOo doesnt have a splash screen enabled by default..
Splash screens CAN be useful, as Smiff2 said, non-computer literate people will often keep clicking on an icon if the app doesn't show some activity straight away and that is precisely why I have added this extension. My comp runs fast and so do most apps but iceweasel (firefox) takes ages, longer to start up than either gimp or open office (both of which have splashes by default).I can understand some people wanting to disable splash screens if they are there by default but what I don't understand is the way so many people attack any suggestions of splash screens with firefox. There have been several ways of adding splash screens to firefox for some time and none of them are there by default so what is the problem? This is an extension, if you hate splash screens then you don't need to go to the effort of installing it, those that do want one can now have one easily.

...until you upgrade to a FF version that doesn't support the extension.

So do I... so I can combine this with the suggestion of the "Stealing your credit cards" thing above and scare my friends into using Firefox.
