r-force.org — Right after the recent findings that Starforce will reboot your computer when it find "suspicious" activity, it has now been found it also travels across networks. This means Starforce has FULL access to the internet as it is a ring0 driver, so it could potentially be sending information back to their servers and wont show up on firewalls.

Being a Mac user I'm glad I don't have to deal with this crap. However, my selection of games is more limited so it's a double edged sword. Lucky for me most of the games I want to play make it to Mac... good thing I'm no longer a hard core gamer.Anyhow, this ordeal reminds me of Sony.

Codemasters has forever lost my business because they use that Starforce s**t (in CMR 2005, TOCA, etc.). I've already written to them to inform them of this. It's a shame because they have some really good titles out. My email probably won't do anything, but they won't see another bloody cent from me. I think of Codemasters in the same way one thinks of a wild hooker -- sure you get a good time, but you walk away infected.

People PREFER to buy games. Copy protection encourages piracy because legitimate buyers don't want to deal with the hassle of keeping the DVD in the drive, using private server hacks, or have their PC polluted with malware like Starforce. Developers need to calm down with the draconian copy-protection systems and make good games that people actually want to buy.

Mac user here NOT worried about starforce... Worried more about Mac Evangelistas/Fanboys who come off as kuh-ray-zee. DEMERIT!

Er dude 'boot sector', oh wish people would actually read before replying. MBR is the master boot record, which can be considerably longer than a couple of bytes. This should never be confused with a boot sector of a drive.Star force was/does use an emulation of the IDE subsystem, this should never be confused with something such as a virtual SCSI device etc. As in it is IDE in name only because that is the protocol channels it uses. Beyond that its like plugging physical hardware cracking tool onto your IDE system. Because in all sense and purposes that is what this emulation is capable of. Total control of Ring 0 I/O protocols.

Actually in UK you do not have to prove content or harm. If fact the defendant has to prove they did not cause harm. Kind of weird but that's the way it works. If however I was American It would be as you said. Most people here in the UK would assume it was you.

I was given "GT Legends" by my wife and I tried to play it on my old dell computer and the graffix sucked so I uninstalled it to wait intill I got a better one...well long story short I have a much better computer now and the "StarForce code" is now invalid....She bought the game NEW at Comp USA about two years ago for $30.00 and now it refuses to play.
