I hope you can gain enough transporter points to somehow beam people off their ships and then beat them senseless with inanimate carbon rods.'in Rod we Trust!'
A Star Trek MMO will fail, and fail hardcore. It would have to be better than WoW by a ridiculous degree to even get a quarter of WoW's subscribers. People just don't like Star Trek anymore. Maybe it's because the show has been bad and irrelevant for over a decade but I really don't see people paying 15$ a month to work in Star Fleet. The person who mentioned a Firefly MMO, now THAT would be awesome. The universe lends itself much better to an MMO and it doesn't have the negative connotation of Star Trek. Essentially, it'd almost be Star Wars Online, but hopefully not terrible. The one cue that all MMO developers need to take from WoW is that realistic graphics aren't going to make a difference. So long as you have a good art direction and your animations are fluid the game will look good, as WoW does. Half the people that might be interested in Age of Conan can't even play the game because system requirements are too high and this is coming from a long time computer gamer, I think I'm about done upgrading at this point. I doubt I'll be playing an MMO of AoC's graphical quality until they release one for consoles. Charge 80$, include a keyboard and a mouse and I'm game.
Because the original design was efficient? I guess they didn't need to change much. Look at our space shuttle... hasn't changed much since the 80's (at least from the outside).
ok i might have been hasty. Now that I've been playing it for a week and have started to improve my Miranda Class Star Cruiser and have started understanding the space combat system, the is getting very fun! I can say it's actually more fun to play than Bridge Commander which was my fav trek game.

After what Jack Emmert did to City of Heroes. I won't be touching this game.

I was under the impression that they were reusing another engine, so they could just build the content and have it more or less running.
