I have to say I agree with Sp3x0ps on this one. I work for the local O***** M** and it's amazing how strongly we're encouraged--borderline badgered--to sell f**king replacement plans and bulls**t tech services. And the majority of the time we know that A) The person is going to lose/forget about their replacement plan. B) Doesn't really need a tech service to solve the problem. It's really pathetic how fanatical the managers are in touting and ramming these things down the customers' throats, but hey, it's all in the name of profit right?

I am a tech in a CT staples, I cannot vouch for other big box stores, now, let's see what you got wrong:1) Ok, this is mostly true, but we do not work on commission, I don't care that much if you buy something(managers do though), I try to give you all the info you want about a product, I also try to save the customer money "This product is cheaper, even thought this other one is on sale, and does the same thing."2)There is no way for us to inflate prices with out manager approval(register security clearance thing).3)We have no "specially priced software" with install included, there is no software for purchase except for the shelf and 'lock-up' for the expensive stuff.4)Staples warranties actually are good, the product can't be fixed? get a new one/get a gift card for the full price back5)We are not Best Buy our version of staples.com is your version of staples.com it is what we use for ordering stuff in-store for customers

OK you two, remove the ZLOB trojan, NO FORMAT/REINSTALL and want to charge less than $90.And, usually there are multiple trojans, at least on machines we get at my store.

Wow, a lot of snide assumptions about older folks here. Glad I don't have that tude - last night I went to see the Guitar legend and master innovator, Les Paul, not only memerize me with his fretwork but had us all laughing with his bawdy jokes.......Oh yes, he happens to be 92 years of age.

oh no! how dare he charge for his time! Maybe Hillama will make everything universally low priced

You've taken his statement out of context, what he meant was it is not proper for Staples to charged such an exorbitant price for their services, especially to the elderly. Now what are you blabbering about eating sh*t and all ?
nujikabaneApr 1, 2008
Heehehe, that's a good one !

Hehe, nice reply @Samsong :-) Yeah, should have read thoroughly before leaving some retarded comment. + saying that you can afford the price just showed what a pompous a*s you are.

Stories like this piss me off like no other. People take advantage of the fact that others may not be as knowledgeable as them. I called a local repair guy once to help my mom fix a problem with her PC. It was really slow and we couldn't figure out why. One guy quoted us $105/hr with a minimum 2 hour charge to just take a look at the PC. What a joke I thought! We ended up searching online and found a site that offered a scan of her PC. http://www.registryrepairtips.com/I was skeptical with software like that, but it determined there was some type of DLL error. I found someone at work in the IT department that was then able to fix the problem for free. And to think we were about to spend $210 to have some guy we didn't know come into our house!

Typical big box store policies. Underpaid 'tech-wannabe's that work on meager commissions that don't help to pay the rent. If you want to get real service in Los Angeles, visit http://www.losangeles-computer-repair.net and click the book now button.

Yes i agree with you.I use to work for staples and their is a lot of other stuff like risking customers info. They back up customers' data on the floor while they are helping other customers on the floor .they keep your data and never destroy it.so if you have sensitive data never take it at any staples take it to local stores and also they try to over charge you with stupid services.Your best bet if you want to buy warranty call the manufacturer and get it from them.Staples will tell you they do not make money on warranties .This is a lie they make money on customers. It all about selling you stuff that will not help. You are dam right.

You are a dammed slave and liar .sorry if that is an offense but staples has good office supply products sometimes but mostly they advertise item that they do not have in stock and they do not have properly trained techs.Do want to make money off people who are wick.Staples is just another parasite so be ware of buying warranties and fixing your computer.Get a yahoo or google search for a best local repair or go to new egg.com to buy your part and find a friend that can help and save your money.

This is like staples easy tech and geek squad too they take advantage of customers and telling you that they did a good job they did not do anything. They just charge you more money every day.Like the tune up at staples is to lure you in the store what they do is just defrag and clean up cookies and vacumm sometimes that all and you can save your money on this by doing this your self or asking your neighbor ,friend children or grand kids. Thanks let save the world
