gamedrift.com — Hiromichi Tanaka (Senior VP of Software Dev at Square) gave an interview to UK based site Pro-G. During the interview he let slip a bombshell of an announcement. Square’s next MMO is coming to PC and 360 with the PS3 as a mere possibility!

@ KendiggI think you might be misunderstanding what 'mere' means. It doesn't imply that the possibility is large or small, just that the fact that it is only a possibility makes it a lesser proposition than a confirmed fact.

After Final Fantasy XI You would think square would have given up on that route , this is the first final fantasy game i wont be buying for sure.We fell in love with final fantasy series back on the snes when all you had to worry about was a few options in the battle menus and a gripping storyline , the games were bought by one and all no worries about having to pay dual subscription fees as in the Xbox360 ver of finalfantasy xi online. No constant update downloading before you could begin to play. Life was simple and full of the joy that only a new squaresoft title could bring , how ironic now that every announcement square makes seems a kick further into that world of dull uninteresting games that seem to be the "popular" thing today.Let blizzard make the mmo `s keep Final Fantasy offline.

"After Final Fantasy XI You would think square would have given up on that route "You mean that game with 500,000 active subscribers? Yeah, I can see how they'd think it a foolish thing to follow up on. I mean, how could a MMO that pulls in more than $6.5 million a month possibly be worth it?

FFXI is a nightmare.Do people really WANT to have to play for a year to get to level 75? All you can do to get there is grind. Grind for hours each day for a year. Playing FFXI is hardly an option for casual gamers, or gamers who don't want to devote all their time to a single game. You don't even get to do anything fun until about level 50-60, when you finish mission 5-2 and get to do the Zilart missions.

WoW is nothing buy boring, colorful, life wasting kid bait. It's like a kid's introduction to jobs only instead of getting paid, their mommy has to pay Blizzard.

@ghostcowI don't remember EQ having an auction house. I remember squat down bazaars in that game.To be honest I never played DaOC or UO. So wouldn't know about those games.

^ I know what "denotation" and "connotation" mean. However, the fact that you bring up "denotation" makes me think you don't know what it means. Denotation is in reference to origins aka the most direct meaning. In other words, the denotation of the word "mere" would be its dictionary definition. As for the connotation, yes, I do realize that the word "mere" has a negative connotation. However, if you were to think for a moment, you would realize that the negative connotation is in relation to its dictionary-definition. To illustrate by example, imagine someone saying "You are a mere scientist." Of course, being a scientist is a GOOD thing, but the negative connotation comes from the suggestion that the indicated person is simply a scientist and nothing more than that. Get it?
