The defendants soon announced that they would appeal, and the date for the new trial has been set for November by the Appeal Court.

Well what if they just refuse to pay? I'm sure they'll get jail time for it, but I doubt if they care. They seem perfectly willing to go to jail for this cause, which is why I admire them so much.And like the previous guy said, it won't make a bit of difference.
