blogs.zdnet.com — The spammers behind last year’s destruction of Blue Security are back with a vengeance, using a variant of the ‘Storm Worm’ malware to launch a sustained distributed denial-of-service attack against three anti-spam services. The ongoing attacks successfully shut down the Web servers that power the Spamhaus Project [...]

I'm with cyburdine on this issue. Also, I think the main reason why spam is such a problem most people is because they aren't smart about where they put their email address. For instance, I have a Yahoo! email address that I use for signing up for things online and it gets a lot of junk mail. But my email addresses that I actually communicate through only get about 5 spams per week because I never sign up for things with them and I only post them online in .swf format. Another thing is that people tend to neglect is the fact that you can simply click an "unsubscribe" link in the spam message and you won't get anymore spam from that company!

You're not the problem. The problem is the V1aGarA spammers and such that WILL use the unsubscribe link as a validation that the email address is legit, use botnets to send the spam, etc. For every one of you, there seems to be 100 of the other type. I have no problem with a bulk-emailler that follows all the rules and is accountable.

"Q: Do you know who's behind the DDOS on the RBL's?"A. I have no idea, my guess is those viagra folks. They seem more organized than the scammers. But I'm just speculating. I want them stopped too."Q: Do the RBL's cause you pain or are you a good boy?"A. I've been on a small blacklist once when I first started, I had some traps in my list. The blacklist had no effect on me, the domains I mail to don't use any RBLs. I'm not listed on anything right now."In fact - I think I know who you are, your logs are interesting evidence."Really? I find that extremely unlikely. There was nothing identifiable in my post, and the e-mail I registered with wouldn't be very useful. It's not that I'm hiding from anyone, but there are some crazy people on digg who wouldn't just talk about murder but actually do it. Personally, I'm more annoyed at telemarketing and junk snail mail, that actually interferes with lives. I always go to the junk box, and am free to ignore.

You could say the same for the world in general.

the argument makes perfect sense. file sharing is illegal. spamming is illegal. the hypocrisy is that people cheer file sharers because theyre getting something for free, then they boo the spammers for wanting the same thing.no matter ow you twist it to make file sharers look like vigilante robin hoods, its still illegal.

Maybe they just attacked Google too, cause their gmail.com and mail.google.com sites are toast, and have been for hours.

I responded by asking that he send me a mere $50.00 as an indication of his "good faith" and sincerity.I am still awaiting his response.

I'm sure that most of the people who receive spam would gladly donate to fund the bounties -- myself included.

f**king spammers... I really wish Blue Frog would have continued going... Because it wouldn't have been long, before those spammers would be completely out of business... We NEED to get something new started to go back on the offensive!I miss the Blue Frog days... *Sigh*...
