Believe it or not, spam is closer to what you'd normally think of as meat. Unlike sausages and hot dogs, spam's made with pork shoulder meat and ham.It's still fricking disgusting, though.
yeah, seriously. I actually haven't had to deal with spam since switching over to Gmail (about 1-2 yrs ago). Way to go Google, bringing Gates' vision to life. Too bad it wasn't MS (though, Hotmail Live's spam isn't TOO bad).
It has nothing to do with the OS and everything to do with a server having their mailing configured as Open Relay. A linux box can be Open Relay, so can Windows, whatever. The server admin can (and should) set it to Closed. Nothing to do with the OS and everything to do with a server admin being stupid.
It's true that you can increase the sensitivity of the spam filter, but then it gets a lot of false negatives. I leave it on the lowest setting because I don't like having to check my spam folder every time I check my email. Oh, or I just use my Gmail account.
