This book was authored during the height of the space race and features references from everything from Laika (the first dog into space) to kinetics (the science of force and motion).

Really cool illustrations and a welcome reminder of when the country was infatuated, justifiably so, with space travel. I may be dating myself here, but I remember exactly where I was--the den with my four brothers--when Neil Armstrong touched down on the moon in '69.

Good find. Ever see "Sputnik Mania"? It's a great doc now on DVD and History Channel about the Space Race, Sputnik, and the Cold War feelings during the '50s told through PSA and newsreels. I just interviewed the director. This reminds me of that.
