If you just want to play video games, get a system that only does video games. You know, like the original Game Boy. All three next-gen consoles are multimedia, get used to it.
If Sony delivers on this idea it could be really cool. Not cool enough to make me buy a PS3, but it is an interesting concept. I will still stick with my Xbox360. It will be interesting to see what Microsoft comes back with since they have the network capacity to combat. Nintendo is going to have problems if they do not get their on line act together.
Sony should call this "Gayville" or "Pussyville"Who the f**k wants to decorate an apartment and invite people over to watch trailiers? f**king weak sony...
They stated that depending on the game content you buy, play, and beat you will be rewarded with tons of free content. However there are premium items that will be for sale. The kinda stuff that would make a Clan or Guild get together and make a neato guild outpost, maybe spend 5 bucks and get a bunch of neat customized uniforms for everybody. I dunno, it seems kinda cool to me. Iv always had fun with those social games like habbo hotel, and second life. If SL had better graphics I might have stayed a bit longer. I think Sony is gonna hit a home run with this one.Dont forget tyme, this is to encourage you to buy more games to get more reward gear/stuff.
It's an awesome concept. I never visualized an online, virtual world that fully integrates multiplayer and console functions into one application. But is it fun and will the appeal last?I can't help but feel that it's all just hype. How many of you actually play Second Life, or other social MMOs where you have no real purpose?Second Life is popular in some circles, but it doesn't offer much beyond socialization. Yes, Home does include the ability to play various multiplayer games online with friends, and downloadable content, but beyond that, it's not that much more interesting than Second Life.Where's the novelty here? Why is everyone so hyped? Is it really just because they managed to create a virtual world much like Second Life that is centered around the PS3?I can't help but think that within a few years, Home will be much like most other MMOs. Filled with moronic high school kids, guys posing as women and perverts. What is there to do beyond socializing, multiplayer arcade games, and customizing? If that's all it is, then I'm not very excited. Sony will continually update it, no doubt, but what will they add? I'm sure any new functions they add will center around the social aspects of it.In short: I'm not convinced this is the "killer app" that everyone on Digg is making it seem. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to see Sony getting back on track, but I don't think Home is going to convince people to buy a PS3. Maybe the gaming community will turn around and embrace the PS3, but who beyond that is really that interested in this? People who already enjoy social MMOs like Second Life and Habbo Hotel?I'm not trying to troll. I'd seriously like it if someone answered my questions, so don't bother replying if you simply plan to insult me; I'd prefer it if you dugg me down in that case.

I just hope that when this is released there are these two features: a "block" button, and a "mute" button.

or you know, they could just put ads in loading screens, which a lot of other online games on pc seem to do nowadays.
