effectu.com— Historical prices and sales suggest the PS3's price may cause it to fail. Will this trend continue... or will games, graphics, etc. bail out Sony's new console?

The historical pricing would be more helpful and meaningful if it were stated in real terms (constant dollar corrected for inflation). Showing nominal values is, well, of little value.Oh, and what about the pricing on true classic systems (2600, Intellivision, Pong, Coleco, etc.)?
It's funny, people dont seem to be bothered to spend hundreds of dollars on their PC to play the latest game, yet to shell out a one time expense for a console that will last you AT LEAST 5 years of gaming, people get up in arms. Gamers shell out 500 bucks for the latest graphics card, or a cool 1000 or more for a gaming rig, yet 600 bucks for a games machine is out of the question? The average gamer is in their late 20's, who that age DOESN'T have a job?
It's funny how I get dugg down for sharing my personal experience with the system...some people maybe just don't want to hear what may be the truth of the matter?
Check it out. Buy the console you think you will like the best take it home and play it. I really just want a console that has great graphics and great games. I think im going back to board games the graphics are great on those.
I guess I'm weird then because my first PS2 still is working fine (I got it about 2-3 months after launch), but I've gone through 2 xboxes and 1 Gameboy SP.
