engadget.com — Sony Japan just showed their new Walkman S series of digital audio players. The NW-S700 players deliver exactly what we've already seen. The player features a quick 3-minute charge for 3-hours of playback or a 2-hour full-charge for up to 50-hours playback. Sony claims that the NW-S700 series delivers the highest sound quality in Walkman history.

as much as i love apple and their products (i do own a few) i think they should open their itunes to work with other players...and vice versa of course. I think its bad for consumers otherwise. Would you consider buying a Zune, Sony, Creative if it would work with iTunes??Although i personally like the ipod nano more than most other players...i would at least consider it seriously.

I'm sold. I dont get it, do people who have iPods not know what radio is? I've made my mind up long ago that I'd only buy a player that inlcudes FM since its so cheap and easy to add, and gives a player more playtime and variety when you want to listen to say a game, news, traffic, or some special event on the go.Plus it doesnt have a screen to scratch.

Archos gmini xs202:I have this. The UI kinda sux but it's much smaller than an ipod, no DRM, battery lasts ridiculously long, no proprietary hardware or software necessary. It's 20 GB, btw.
