destructoid.com — Sony has confirmed that a larger hard drive has been in the works for sometime now and that 200GB seems to be the magic number. Is this another way for Sony to take our money and run? Or do they plan on giving us a valid reason in buying a new and more expensive console?

This is a rumor from a blog. They say "It could happen!" about the price. Sony might be a lot of things, but they're not deaf. They know people bitch about the price, and I'm sure they'd love to make it the cheapest console and sell a lot more of them. Releasing a more expensive unit would be the last thing they'd do, but upgrading the expensive unit and keeping the price the same could happen.Chances are they will lower the price at some point in the year to come regardless. But who know. It's a really fun game console and I really recommend you check one out personally if you can; not just at a store, but at a home. The Six-Axis controllers are very much underrated - they're awesome!

Why are you talking out of your ass? The PS3 isn't a closed system like the xbox. If your using it like the media center it is you should already be approaching the limits of HDD space. All my music, photo and video transfered from my computers harddrive is 70 gig...I got a 250gig external HDD for that though. Still if you install linux you have to halve your HDD space so that cuts it down to 30gig for sony downloadables........GTA HD and the motostorm demos alone take up 2 gig. How much space will home and warhawk take up? WTF are you talking about the harddrive is hard to remove? The HDD is easier to remove and install than a desktop. Everyone also forgets the PS3 wasn't gimped like the 360. PS3 users that don't have a 200gig HDD don't need to go buy another PS3 they can go buy any standard laptop HDD>

Ummm, you don't have to open up the PS3 to upgrade the HDD. There is a slot that you can open for easy access.

"Working on a 200GB drive"?There's not a lot to it. You can do it yourself.Buy PS3. Buy 200GB 2.5" SATA drive. Put 200GB 2.5" SATA drive in PS3. Select format in menus.Done.

I'm starting to wonder if Fukuoka is really pronounced Fuk-u-oka as in "f**k You Okay?"

And Ghiren proves he knows absolutely nothing about the PS3. There's a door on the side of the system where the HDD slides out. It's one thing to not like a system, it's another to spread lies. Digg this fool down so people don't get confused.

how is that gouging/fleecing? you get blue-tooth, wifi, 60gig drive, blue-ray player, all-format card reader, ability to run another OS, HDMIPrice gouging is what they charge for the 360 if you config it up to PS3 specs.Maybe I am just older now and have a little more money than I used to but I like a fully featured system built into 1 sleek box that's quiet with 1 hdmi cable going to my entertainment center and 1 power cord (sans brick) going to the outlet. With the 360 you have all those component cables, a big ass power brick, fan like a turbine, external HD-DVD drive with yet another cable. All so you could save $5 over a PS3. It looks so primitive compared to the PS3.Right now it is good enough for mass appeal. Once the PS3 gets as far along in its cycle as the 360 is now you will see some really cool games that will make the 360's reputation just like its appearance, primitive.

BAAAWWW SOMEONE WITH A PS3 DOESNT LIKE ME BAAAWWWWYour rebuttal is flawed, as it had nothing to do with my actual argument. The point is that it's My Opinion that the system would be a lot smaller and look better and POSSIBLY have one less potential problem to worry about if the supply were tethered to the console. I said I was Skeptical about heat not being an eventual issue as a side comment. There's no way you can argue against that if the 'brick' werent housed inside the console, the console itself would be significantly smaller. Also you shouldn't think you can argue about the hardware with any degree of accuracy. just because you didnt take your system back for problems doesn't mean no-one else has. PS3 has only been available for a relatively short period of time, and was purchased in relatively small numbers. As more and more people buy the systems, more and more time will pass and the common problems will start to surface as bashings on the internet. FTR i don't own a 360 either.
