eurogamer.net — Worldwide Studios president Phil Harrison says Sony had been thinking about a developing motion sensitive controller "since 1994" but was restricted by technology limitations. Yeah, Phil, and I've been thinking about flying cars since I was 5.

Sony should call their controller the wiipoff :o)

I'll second that. People have been working on motion sensor based gaming since the 1960s. It's just that the hardware SUCKED big time back then. I remember seeing the Polhemus spatial sensing device back in the 1970s, and everyone had the same thought. We can make a virtual light saber and flail around like assh**es, except this costs $30,000 or something and the computers are too slow.As for Pong. I remember a 1972 single player version some guys did for a digital circuit lab. You could bounce the ball off the wall and watch the thing on a Tektronics scope. Thank goodness we didn't have patents on this kind of stuff back then. I could just see someone claiming that going from one player electronic ping pong to two player electronic ping pong was a novel extension.

Great point Daniel591992, at this point , you haven't been dugg down. It's kinda like one of those slow, but steady clap to standing ovations.

Playstation arent copycats. But I think everyone should stop accusing each other of copying. Nintendo are just jelous that Sony and playstation have been so successful with their products. Thats just my opinion, I know many wont agree with me.Jackhttp://www.psp-uk.net

@dradienI was just pointing out that sony has to steal the market share from microsoft, and they will not have an easy time in australia with that price tag, and big deal if they did copy nintendo, but they could have at least done it properly and put feedback functions on the controller.

You're right. Sony COULD turn it around and release a twice as powerful console as the Xbox 360 with twice as many games worthy of playing.Somehow I doubt it.

@mediaphileWhile I agree with you're statement, you're calling someone a tard when you don't even know how many senses playing a video game w/ force feedback will be stimulated. Think about it man.

please! we all know that they stole it!

Sorry to interrupt all your guys arguing but there is a few points i may like to add on and off the subject. Firstly the PS3 is not over priced as I and many millions are willing to pay top notch for a ps3 ( i preordered mine for bout ?600 odd). Secondly the graphics may look near the xbox 360 but statistically slightly better (as everyone knows) may i also remind you guys that this is a new type of development kit and that the graphics will improve over time as developers are accustomed to the ps3 (and xbox 360 and wii) e.g. compare WWE Smack Down! vs. RAW 2006 graphics with WWE SmackDown! Here comes the pain graphics. Thirdly id rather pay more for quality than pay cheap for "crap". Fourthly there will be many cases with the wii with repetitative strain disorder and arthritis as you are moving all the time (yes i know they have a pad as well which would stop this). Also the massive infux of people at the e3 showing, lol who cares%u2026 the wii had just been newly announced and shown compared to the ps3 which had posters up around the world early 2005 and so it wasn%u2019t anything new. I must give crediti to the wii for excellent ideas though and the console will go far (just like the gamecube did %uF04A). Fifthly, yes xbox 360 does dominate the market as they are the only new console out but remember that technology does get dated fast e.g. the graphical superiority of the original xbox to the ps2 even though the ps2 had been out for a few years more (i didn%u2019t get the argument why people were arguing that the original xbox was better as it clearly has 2 or more years worth of technology in it which SHOULD have knocked the ps2 out of the waters .... but it didnt :) and so they made a new console which does clearly destroy the ps2 and other consoles SHOCK HORROR!!!). Sixthly the blue ray is a absolute amazing idea which no other console has got, people can slate it all they want, the question i want 2 know is why did microsoft did not make the xbox 360 HD dvd and included a hard drive in the core system ready from the start??? Would the price be to high???? well this aint a good point i know but it has been bugging me when i bought my xbox 360. Seventhly Who cares who copied who (obviously you guys do), i mean does anyone one work for sony, microsoft, or nintendo here?? If no one does then why are you guys arguing over what aint yours in the first place. Eightly, Just to stick in halos face that the first 2 were utter crap (halo 2 with the uber new dual wielding weapons, now where have seen dual weilding weapons before) but the hype said it will be the best game ever, result = SSS short sharp s**t but wait the same hype is for halo 3, any ideas what is going to happen? ill give you a hint it begins with S and it is one of the 3 letters i stated above and its not sharp :). Oh before anyone disagrees with me i own the original xbox with both games and so have played and. After all that just saying that i got preorders for the wii for my lil sis and the ps3 for me and own most of the other consoles. Before i am told as being a ps3 fanboy, im not i just enjoy good quality gadgets. The xbox360 was a waste of money and so is in my cupboard gathering dust as no one will buy it of me!!! Wonder why? Btw im not insulting the companys in general as i own alot of Microsoft and nintendo products, just saying that the new xbox is crap, the wii will be good but the ps3 will be excellent. Go Sony!
