engadget.com — Sony's announcements today they've issued a titled "Next-generation Console Comparison Fact Sheet," (downloadable here [DOC]) so let's see some facts. First up, were you aware that to use your Xbox 360 Core system you're required to buy the 20GB drive add-on, an HD DVD drive, a wireless controller, and an Xbox Live sub? We weren't either.

i think you owe me for a coffee stained monitor & keyboard. =)my vote for funniest anti-sony comment of the week. "...crafted by god himself".

@FlynnzI apologize I overlooked that. But as it still stands in big letters it is a comparison chart. Which means that they are comparing features and prices. How can you make an comparison chart without them.Like Mr. Sidnet said below they are comparing apples to apples.

I like how in SONY's comparison chart, the Wii comes off as the best.Look at the first table of prices: PS3: $499360: $698Wii: $250And it's not like the average consumer is going to undertand the rest of the specs anyway. But who knows, they may notice the fact that only the Wii and the premium PS3 support wireless out of the box.Oh, and where did those Wii specs come from (for RAM, CPU, etc.). I thought Nintendo wasn't releasing those.

It's been known for a year that the core system is not as good of a deal as the premium. Sony uses this to their advantage by using it in their comparison, instead of the premium which COMES with the HDD and wireless controller, etc. they can say that MS "requires" you to buy those separate, which is just not true. You'd be hard pressed to even FIND a core system in a store!

Its probably what it needs to be compramale to the PS3.
jabocsnake123Oct 23, 2006
exactly! it's not saying you need these things for the console to function, just that you would have to buy those things to make the 360 core system the same as their "core" system...it's a little misleading but most advertising and such is! has everyone been living under a rock? why is this so shocking? corporations mislead people everyday! why is it that people only get angry or go "see, Sony is evil" when Sony does it, like Sony is supposed to do something different?

Even if you don't buy the $200 HDD attachment, they are both the same price. Also, if you buy the xbox premium, and save 50 bucks, AND you dont buy the attachment, then there is only a $50 difference, and for that $50, you get a Blu-Ray player, which is well worth 50 bucks.
