gamespot.com— Issues with mass production of Blu-ray drives could be to blame if spring system launch is pushed back to fall.

"I'll say it again, blu-ray was a big mistake. If they include blu-ray, it completely guts the sales of all other blu-ray devices. That means the adoption of blu-ray will be completely dependent on the success of the PS3."-FishyJoeWell if that be the case I hope they do because it gives HD-DVD a chance to bring their players down because the PS3 will never be out hahahahhah oh wait I am gessing just in time for christmas with as many bugs as any other consoles in history.
Yeah there is no way I am paying this much IF it is that many years out before devs have it optimized....that much money goes to a fully functional PC, not a console. I think the REV is going to be the winner in the next few years...and yes I hope it is too.
It appears that Sony has set itself up for failure by incorporating Blu-Ray into the PS3. It will get them involved in a massive format war. It will cause the PS3 to be delayed so much that there will be more economical Blu-Ray players on the market by the time it's released. It will also increase the price of the PS3 dramatically. Then you have to factor in the facts that they're trying to build an on-line system to rival Xbox Live from scratch, they're competing against a hugely popular handheld console from Nintendo, and they will undoubtedly be offering the most expensive console on the market. I'd be impressed if they could overcome those odds, but I just don't see how that's possible.
Sony's Best chance at survival is to keep coming out with great games for the PS2 and try to maximize the hardware on the PS2. Nintendo did this years ago with the NES and it stayed around for a while after the Next-Gen systems were released. However, I don't know how long Sony can keep people interested in the PS2 and if they can keep the console alive until the PS3 comes out
You know I would have to agree. And the system is going to be delayed. I read an official report of a November release. And Ive heard about all the power and stuff included with the system. What do you think they'll do to the price. Sony's future is hanging on the PS3 and their blue ray discs. And I tell ya for the extra money the screens Ive seen don't seem to be any more ground breaking than the 360. We could be seeing the end of Sony. The Blue ray doesn't seem to be worth all of the trouble. Especially if companies go with the cheaper HD DVD.
I'm pretty sure that the Nintendo company stated that the system isn't going to be able to compete graphically. And I own a 360 and was quite disappointed in the lack of improvement ( definitely not groundbreaking ) . So if it cant compete with that, than what will we be receiving? A prettier Game cube with a cool controller. I miss the Glory days of the NES myself but Nintendo just isn't a console competitor anymore. They should stick to handholds. okay I guess maybe I am a little bitter about the Zelda delay.
