arstechnica.com — This is what Sony has been hyping for the past two years, what is supposed to begin the high definition era, and what is intended to destroy the competition. This is the Trojan horse by which Sony hopes to get Blu-ray into as many homes as possible. The stakes are much higher than for a simple gaming system...

One of the more thorough and fair reviews of the PS3 that I've seen so far, great job Ars!

A Good review. I agree with high price, BD that I personally dont want (and the system doesnt need (disc caching)) and the interface is way to simplified for the task ahead. I think the PS3 just needs a few months to get some launch bugs cleared up. With that said, I have to say I wont be buying a PS3. Not because it sucks because it doesnt but because I hate Sony for all their disrespect to Consumers. I bet the PS3 would have been an overwhelming threat at $450 against the Xbox360. If they only left out the Bluray player. We might have even had PS3s last Spring instead of now. WTG Sony!

Yes, we probably submitted at the same time with me being just a few seconds off. In any case, the winning submission made front page.
