computers.net — U.S. retailers estimate that nearly 1.5 million Wiis will be sold before Christmas, about twice as many as the PS3. Sony's response? "We feel very confident that the PlayStation fan is going to wait until they can get a PlayStation 3...If they do pick up a Wii, it's as more of a novelty."

Actually it's the most precise controller I've ever used. Aiming is quicker and more accurate in shooters and I find myself with better control in driving games as well. For games like bowling or tennis there isn't even a rational basis for comparison. Most amusing is the fact that PS3 fans almost invariably admit they'll "get a Wii too" or they're going to wait on the PS3 "until the price comes down and there are good games". It's never good news for a company when even their fans admit they're buying a competitors product over their own.

First comes denial, then rage, then bargaining with PS3 fanboys and throwing in a few bones, and then accepting defeat when everything starts collapsing on Sony's heads.

My roommates and I own both a 360 and a Wii. Over the weekend, I played both Gears of War and Twilight Princess back-to-back. I was shocked at how poor Twilight Princess looked compared to Gears. The Wii is simply not next-gen. The Wii looks worse than the Xbox. I was hopeful for Nintendo when I heard that the Wii was only supposed to last two years, but now they are saying it will last five. I think Nintendo has surrendered the console market to Sony and MS. The Wii is like the DS: a novelty. A very successful, profitable novelty. Also, the Wii Remote is not as responsive as you would think. It does not permit natural motion. It has a learning curve like any regular controller.Don't flame me for being a fanboy. I am an ancient gamer, and remember the days when Nintendo's controller innovation was a D-pad rather than a joystick. It saddens me to say this, but I think Nintendo is out. They are going off in their own direction, and they are not really competing with Sony and MS anymore.

Sounds to me like Sony just has a bad case of Wii envy. Freud would be pleased.

"Competitors rose and fell because Nintendo has always made successful portables! Oh, agony of agonies! I don't remember that happening to the Dreamcast when Sony released the PS2!"So sony has dominated the console market alone for the past 10+ years? I wonder what all these people are talking about... N64, xbox, and dreamcast who new about those systems.Without searching, in the past 10 years name me the compitition the gameboy has had? Nintendo's gameboy had very little to no compitition. This was more like a domination. When the DS was announced everyone I new who had a gameboy was interested in the DS and saw no downside to purchasing one. Within the first 2 months of the DS's release it sold 2 million units. Not even game consoles has had such an awesome reception. I know alot of people here are nintendo fans and love the Idea of them being the underdog but nintendo has never been the underdog in the portable gaming market since 1989. I am dugg to oblivion as if I am speaking without any real grasp of the situation but the numbers do not lie.

@KirscheYou're wrong, actually. The DS moved almost two million units in November. That's 2% of the PS2's _ENTIRE_ marketshare in a single month.

Yes, because that is logical. I mean, I play SNES games on my PS2 all the time.If you've never played a Wii, don't decide the controls suck.
