"and this is different than VLC how?http://www.videolan.org/vlc/^^except VLC is already fully functional, stable, and widely available."are you even serious? this is hardly even similar to VLC. except that it's software.VLC is a good player, but doesnt have any support for a library. That's the main thing i need.. i have 10,000+ songs and no good way to manage my entire library.

ah ha! My blog - a UK music blog called "Take Your Medicine" is a default bookmark - i wondered why I my site was experiencing higher than usual traffic. If you know anything of the Arctic Monkeys - there is a hilarious cover of a "Girls Aloud" track my site. It's track number 17 on the "User Preview" in songbird

While it might be really buggy and far from perfect right now, I'm extremely excited about this program, especially if it can get the open-source community to come out with some great extensions (hopefully developing and installing extensions will be as easy and painless as they are in firefox). I can think of some great examples off the top of my head...- Extensions that supports syncing with essentially every mp3 player out there, including iPod- Hymn-like extensions that automatically de-DRM your purchased music- Extensions that connect to P2P networks, download torrents- Amarok-like lyric and wikipedia integrationI could go on and on...While I'm going to stick to iTunes for now, I'll be paying close attention to the future releases of Songbird...

Hey Rob, I just started testing out songbird and so far so good. I'm excited for a decent alternative to iTunes, having said that, any idea when we'll have some smart playlists or equivalent. Thanks and keep up the good work!
