scienceblogs.com— PZ Myers relays the story of a guy that *keeps* the eucharist cracker instead of eating it. And Catholics go nuts over it! So which is it?

This is just bizarre. The guy has received death threats and faces the possibility of expulsion from the university. All because he kept the eucharist cracker.
It's hard to believe that this isn't from the Onion....How much more proof do people need that religion is total BS. You can buy the wafers online even.http://www.aquinasandmore.com/index.cfm/title/Cava ...So do people actually believe that the same priests that molest children suddenly make some wheat have supernatural properties to say things like this?Gonzalez said intentionally abusing the Eucharist is classified as a mortal sin in the Catholic church, the most severe possible. If it's not returned, the community of faith will have to ask for forgiveness."We have to make acts of reparation," Gonzalez said. "The whole community is going to turn to prayer. We'll ask the Lord for pardon, forgiveness, peace, not only for the whole community affected by it, but also for [Cook], we offer prayers for him as well."
I thought the same thing, it does read like something from the onion! I found out about this from another blog post, and thought it was in fact parody until I saw the actual Myers piece. Now people are in an uproar about him calling it a cracker! What year are we living in!
So, if I were to say that the booze given to children at churchwas part of a plot to get them drunk, so that the priests couldmolest them, would that piss off the radical Catholics?

Sounds reminiscent of those Muslims who started riots over the bear named Muhammed and the Muhammed cartoons.
