blog.serpland.com — All kidding aside, the metrication of America has clearly begun, and the day of full conversion is coming. The experts won?t put a deadline on when this will happen because they know it?s hard for us to give up our quaint, comfortable ways..

If we cared that the Imperial system pisses the rest of the world off, we would change.

My point was that you should change for yourself, because the metric system is easier! And sure, maybe some of the labels say 750 mL, etc. (and not all of them do), but they're not usually referred to in that way (I usually hear pint, half gallon...), and if I were mixing up a big batch of something alcoholic, the instructions would definitely not refer to mL. Which would only be a problem for me if I shouldn't be drinking anymore by that point, anyway... And I dunno, we still call 40oz of liquor in Canada a "forty", but I'm sure that's a holdover from before the metric system was made official. The labels don't have those measurements on them, and "forty" and "mickey" are the only times I've ever referred to anything but mL.And yes, I can function using the imperial system quite well, thank you. I just still have no idea what the conversion factors for many units are, and doubt that even those who've grown up here have many of them memorize. While on the other hand, using the metric system, I could convert units I'd never even heard of instantly.

Car Manufacturers use both measuring systems within our cars already.IT isn't a huge adjustment seeing that most Americans learn to do the conversions when they are in highschool.

We keep the Imperial system because it inconveniences the rest of the world. It's our way of sticking it to the man internationally!!!
