zdnetasia.com— Very interesting article discussing the benefits of the new 64GB solid state drives, and just how soon HDD's will be a thing of the past in laptops (just like MP3 players).

What wrong with the idea of double stacking SSDs so that you can actually achieve a 120GB capacity? If you want to inspire PC makers to "cooperate by making smaller laptops that showcase the features of flash." Well, then you have to let them know that putting 3.5" floppy drives in laptops are a thing of the past.
debates between SSDs and hard drives often tend to miss the fact that with time, hard drives will see advancements too, and they are already at a low price point (being a much more mature technology). Desktop hard drives will be in the terabytes when SSDs are cheap enough to be a replacement - and with the HD video market booming, I don't see a great number of people being satisfied with under 200GB of solid state storage. Vista Ultimate alone needs some 20GB with all its features, doesnt it?
HDD are going to be replaced by SSD's. I have no idea why so many people think that HDD's aren't reaching the end of their life spans. HDD's are a weak point in modern PC's and need to be addressed and SSD's are already addressing many of the HDD's problems. Prices will drop and capacity will rise and it seems to be happening at a good pace.
