gizmodo.com — Tumi's solar-powered backpack has a built in solar panel that lets you recharge your gadgets when your far away from an electrical outlet. The price is a little steep, but the full proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders.

Before people start complaining about the price, you should realize that Tumi bags are relatively high end gear, regardless of the inclusion of a solar panel.Furthermore, its a limited edition run of 500 backpacks.http://www.tumi.com/SkyMirror/PowerPack/

It is a great idea, but I'm afraid the panel is just too small to charge anything significant. Maybe you can keep your cell phone charged on a sunny day, but forget about your laptop. I think I'd save the money and buy an extra battery.

What?Sentences, man.. Sentences.

Yeah Burton has a backpack made with a hemp material that allows sunlight to go through it where a solar panel is underneath. It hooks up to an ipod so you can always keep it charged.

How many geeks are out in the sun in the first place?I think this is a design flaw. Now imagine the potential if you could harness the power of star wars action figures or DVD sets of lame sci-fi series?

It would make a really nice flight bag to keep things like a handheld Transceiver and stuff charged. In the event the plane's electrical system fails. (or the plane crashes)

I'm an avid Tumi fan. Their bags are top quality and will last a lifetime. This bag is a little gimmicky in my opinion, but you cant go wrong with their other offerings.

If you have the money, what would you rather buy - this or a PS3?This thing is too cool.

This is a great device... BUT, I'd rather wait for the price to drop. Too darn expensive...http://www.backpackingtips.net
