switchersblog.com — We've all been there: you buy a nice new piece of software and your told to enter a nasty (seemingly random) sequence of characters to register the application.New graphical License Cards aim to revolutionize software registration, allowing Drag-and-Drop registration and look damn good too! What could be more Mac like?

One fault though. You can't copy it to a piece of paper with a pencil. Call me old fashioned, but I copy any important CD keys to a piece of paper which I keep somewhere safe at my place. (Online storage) disks malfunction, maybe you can get it sent to you by email, but email addresses change, get lost etc., the piece of paper is only likely to 'malfunction' if the house catches on fire.

Well, yeah, but sometimes, after awhile, your forget what the application was for. You need to get the gist of it again. Hence, registition.

Any software that I buy I usually just archive the email it came in. It usually includes the serial number.

I like the idea only simply because of the ease of management, I don't see it getting around stealing a piece of software in the least...Oh, and due to Apple's EULA, I will never own a Mac.

And in Linux and Mac OS X (I've bought a license for it as well), you just move the file to ~/.rarreg.key (or one of another places as specified in the manual). I liked that very much (relatively speaking of course; rar is the only program I have or use that needs a serial of any kind).

Why the need for registration?Well, I think all the thieves who have added a comment above answer that question.Comments like: "software you supposedly need to get a licence" , "Software Registion? never heard of it", "when I'm too lazy to find my key, I open Serial Box", and "it makes bootlegging this s**t a pain!"
