news.yahoo.com — About to become law is an agreement allowing illegal aliens to get Social Security benefits after only 18 months of employment in the U.S., further burdening a system on the brink of collapse. U.S. citizens must show 10 years, or 40 quarters of job history, to collect benefits.

Social Security is a ripoff anyway. What happened to the America when you got to keep the money you made, not get it redistributed to people that don't want to work. But don't worry, you *might* get a little bit of it when you are older! WTF

@zlintux - Someone would fill the jobs that illegals are doing now. Someone else did them before, didn't they? I live in Missouri, and for years, there have been tons of jobs being taken by illegal immigrants that I would have gladly done. Its especially hard getting started in the work force in highschool when all of the jobs that would normally be open to you are being done by illegals who will work for slave wages. In a farm community, there aren't many jobs off your own farm, and the few that are is working at the fastfood joint near the highway. When you goto the McDonald's and everyone behind the counter doesn't speak English, and the menu is in spanish instead, what are you to do? Offer to work below minimum wage and learn Spanish so you can understand what you are being told?

@esbo - the thing is, no one gets automatic payouts. I had been working at a place for a year and a half, when I was injured on the job. My employer then legally fired me (Missouri allows companies to fire someone due to job related injuries if they're not classified as disabled due to those injuries). After which, I proceeded to file for unemployment and worker's compensation to tide me over till I could get a new job, because I was having issues getting work due to the injuries (hard being a laborer when you have zero use of one of your arms). I didn't get any SS or unemployment, because I hadn't had enough continuous work history (just barely missed the cut due to a short layoff I had before I started at that job), and on worker's comp, I only qualified for a settlement based on a percentage of disability (which I've yet to receive, over 2 years later). Its not like I was lazy and didn't want to work, because I did, I just couldn't get a job and I had absolutely no way to help pay the bills. I lost my health insurance, couldn't afford to goto the doctors, worker's comp insurance was fighting me over my injuries, refusing to pay for medical treatment for them. I'm a full US citizen, was just out of highschool, and had more than 18 months work, couldn't work due to severe injuries and couldn't get anything, so why should an illegal get something as soon as they start working? Hell, my dad had 30 years with the Teamsters, plus 21 years in the military, and there was no social security payout for him, neither of his pensions paid out anything, before or after his death just because he was too young (as if getting terminal cancer at age of 46 was his fault. If someone cannot get benefits of social security after paying in for 30 years, another person who just started and isn't even legal sure as f**k shouldn't.

Time to start doing something about it. Have you ever thought to contact your congressman/woman?

@RuskiBangerIt sound's like in the case of your wife, that you are in fact an American citizen and sponsoring her via a family petition. Congratulations... But guess what Lot's of Mexican Immigrant's can't afford that luxury. See Mexicans have few choices when it comes to gaining lawful entry into the U.S1.Either you have a relative that will complete a petition form on your behalf while abroad. 2.You could apply yourself for a guest worker visa that are made available to non-skilled workers and hope to god that you get in line before the cap fills up.OR the way most Mexican immigrant's get in. Or as you would call them "illegals" 1. You cross the border2. You stay with relatives who in most of the time are illegal themselves.3. You get off your lazy ass and start looking for work. ASAP.4. You realize that you can't in fact get legal work and have to opt for buying a fake social security number.5. You find a half decent job working countless hours all while having social security, medicaid, state and local taxes deducted from your paycheck. Oh and never getting to see a dime of that back...6. You hope and pray to god each day you leave your home that you are not arrested.7. You save up a little money.8. You establish a business.9. Your business flourishes.10. You retire very rich....11. You continue taking s**t from so called legal residents who would assume you are illegal by the color of your skin.12. You marry a hot white chick.I suggest you read this article and take note on the following <a class="user" href="http://www.ailf.org/ipc/nowayin.asp">http://www.ailf.org/ipc/nowayin.asp</a>"Despite the inadequacies of the family-based immigration system, immigrants from Mexico must rely overwhelmingly on family connections to enter the United States due to the lack of employment-based visas open to them."Again congratulations on bringing your wife to the U.S may she flourish in the land of opportunities. May she get her just deserved days in the sun while retiring on her much deserved social security benefits. While the thousands of "illegals as you call them" continue to work making 25/hr at some construction plant. Coming home smelling like high heaven, and being greeted by their natural born citizen children, who's dreams of becoming a lawyers put you soundly to sleep at night. :)
