ex-parrot.com — So you find out that everyone in on your block is using your network without your permission. Do you lock it down or...? Or maybe you want to have a little fun. A little creativity with squid and you could turn your everything they browse upside down (literally)

I would give it away for free if I got it for free. But I pay for my internet access, so if anyone else wants to use it they need to either share the cost with me or buy it themselves. If only a few people pay for internet access and distribute free Wi-fi, then the ISPs lose accounts and have to charge more per account. If people would stop leeching and buy their own accounts, it would give ISPs a chance to lower prices.I'm not an ISP. Buy your own damn bandwidth or crack my 128-bit key.

The way I see it, its very smart to leave your WiFi open and unsecured. Let us say that (using my network/ip) *someone* was downloading bittorents, researching random misdeeds, or otherwise engaging in an unrestrained view of the 1st Amendment. Let us say that law enforcement called my ISP, got my address and came on by. How could they prove it was *me* who had done [whatever]? How could they prove it wasn't a neighbor, enemy, or even some random troll sitting in his car outside my house? In a world in which the President feels entitled to read my mail and tap my phone calls, I'll take all the plausible deniability I can get, thank you very much. Besides that, I dream of a world in which every child has their own laptop, and there is wireless Internet access being offered on every block (by private citizens like me, not mega-corps of Government agencies)

hahaha, those are great ideas, but I got a good story on this note. My neighboors weren't stealing my wifi, but since they all use windows computers, i decided to rename it to "Virus". 3 Days later my neighboor comes to my door (cuz im the tech savy one in the neighboorhood) and says "My computer just said "Virus Detected," I'll give you $50 to get rid of it for me."... noobs :D

Id just back door their comp and raid the thing for credit card numbers as well as passwords and login id's, id then upload a s**t load of files that are illegal id then call the cops and people who own the files and while they sit in prison id raid their credit cards leaving them the bill. And ajaxmanutd only way to truly find out is 1. find out how much bandwidth is being used (using a bandwith monitor) and 2. go into your router settings and check your dhcp to see if has any other computers you know shouldn't be there to go to your router settings you need to type in your browser 192.168.0.1 or something like that all routers are different you need to look in your manual for your correct ip router number.

If you want to share your WiFi, why don't you just set your neighbors up with a WPA key?

Ha, I love the Virus story. That is a good one. Why didnt you just put a password on it though? Thought it would be funnier that way?http://www.marketwithartemis.com
