There's a difference between a law prohibiting an individual to ingest a substance like pot, which actually intoxicates much less and does less long term damage than alcohol, and a law prohibiting an individual to do grievous harm to another individual. You know that difference?THEY ARE COMPLETELY 100-f**kING-PERCENT DIFFERENT BY THEIR VERY DESIGN AND PURPOSE.Your argument, which is fallacious for completely ignoring the context of marijuana prohibition in this country and for making wild, reductionist comparisons, could easily be flipped on its head to say "Why do we have any freedoms at all?" Because if we do what you've done here, and take away some important piece of context (say the history of legal and illegal actions in this country) we reduce marijuana smoking and murder into two possible things that humans do. Potentially, in the wide array of things people might do, smoking marijuana or committing murder are two of those thing. SO then why isn't dancing illegal, or talking? I mean, people dance and talk, but they also smoke marijuana and murder! Dancing and talking should be illegal!That is literally the essence of the asinine logic you just used.But I understand, you wanted to prove your point, and murder is a good buzz word. People don't like murder, but people like smoking weed. It fits! It'll get people to see if I make this comparison! The only problem is there is literally no comparison if you actually look at those things in context without feigning the innocence of a f**king third grader.
