inhabitat.com — The Smart Car is coming to the United States! And sooner than you might think? The little car that could, manufactured by Daimler, is expected to join the ranks of available subcompact vehicles in the US in 2008. Hopefully this will convince more people that when personal transportation is concerned, bigger is most certainly not better.

A three cylinder motivating a light car and can't get the milage of a bigger engine in a bigger car. Someone is not being truthfull here. My Suburban gets 87 MPG, has 900 HP and can tow a ship out of the water. AND it's easy to park.

Since when is it a bad thing to buy a cheaper car like a yaris? You aren't communicating to the rest of the world that you are poor. You are communicating that you would rather not waste a lot of money on a car and rather invest that money into something with a little better benefit like a house or an investment. The car as a status symbol is half the problem with all of this.

I'm likely getting the Fit. Small, good mileage, inexpensive, still has room to store a bike or groceries.

Everyone is whining about the fuel economy. Those are new '08 EPA estimates, so everyone is taking a hit. 30 MPG combined for the Civic and Fit; 32 for the Yaris. YMMV ;-)
