"The pills could even allow people not to sleep for several days in a row."It's called Modafinil, it already exists, and they mentioned it at the bottom of the article (which was apparently written by multiple people who didn't look at what the others wrote). I've been up for 40 hours on a couple of Modafinil and probably could have pushed it longer if I thought the side effects were worth it.f**king with nature is never a good idea.
I would totally be willing to take these sometimes. I LOVE sleep, and I LOVE dreaming, but there are times at school I could really use these to find more time to study. Right now I go to class, go straight to work (so I can afford to pay for college), and by the time I come home, I have to go to bed. With these things, I'd have more time to actually READ THE TEXTBOOK and do my homework. These things could definitely have GOOD USEFUL purposes. I wouldn't need them for weekends, but weekdays when I don't have TIME to sleep. . . these things would rock!
This story was reported slightly incorrectly Provigil or Modafinil do not let you wake up refreshed after "4 hours" of sleep, Modafinil is a stimulant and lets you stay up for extended periods of time. In theory you could go by with 4 hours of sleep a day if you used modafinil, but lab test have shown that sleep deprived animals die of massive bacteria infections. I am pretty sure Their new drug that allows you to stay up and sleep 2 hours a day is in fact a variant of the provigil drug or a stimulant. I dont know about the guy who has been sleep deprived for 33 years, but normally most people will die without sleep because sleep is used as a mechanism to repair and restore the body, thus if you ever noticed if you dont sleep for prolonged periods of time you more susceptible to cold sores, zits, colds etcs

Seems cool in a recreational way, to use on the weekends every once in a while, but daily usage seems absurd.
