Last I read (and it was a few months back), they were profitable, as well- and I think the margin was around 20%. The $1B projection fits the pattern of recent growth, but I don't think it's realistic. Google has a more complete (but admittedly less attractive) product with the CoogleVoice/Gizmo integration that costs absolutely nothing. When GV becomes public, with the Google machine promoting it, it's going to put a dent in Skype.I personally prefer Skype for various reasons and I still use it to communicate with others on Skype. But after I got the GV invite, I no longer use any of Skype's paid services.
I've been looking for a VOIP service to reduce charges of calling to foreign countries. Skype has had better quality than any of them so far. It could become THE phone provider eventually.
Since I bought the Zoom adapter and that's working well, I'll probably stick with that. I recently got my media center back up and running permanently so the usb adapter isn't a real issue. It seems fairly stable. The only real feature lacking is the ability to check voicemail from the phone although being able to use any off the shelf phone is almost an even trade-off.. Thanks for the tip. I'm keeping the hardware just in case, but judging by the prices I ought to sell it on ebay minus the handset.
I do, frankly I wont get anything off Craigslist, sorry meeting in a public location just to ensure safety is not my idea of a fun shopping experience. Not to mention you vanish after I buy something and I have stolen goods I have no proof of the transaction.Ebay provides more than shopping, and those fees at least buy me some protection from scam artists or worse.
