arstechnica.com — Only weeks after the appearance of an influential paper arguing for the principle of wireless network neutrality, Skype has asked the FCC to more stringently apply the 1968 Carterfone decision and force wireless operators to open their networks.

"If the internet had started off non-neutral we'd probably be in the same boat there too...now there's a scary thought."The internet started off with NO regulation, and ended up just fine. Quit spreading FUD.

Unfortunately if this happens we are not going to see a decline in the prices of data packages anytime soon. Because of Skype carriers are going to want to get all the money they can out of you. If they are forced to allow Skype to run on their phones you can bet your bucks that data packages will not be decreasing as much as we'd like to see them. The data charges are just astronomical right now with no light at the end of the tunnel apparently.

That's only because nobody in the private sector knew about it until the 80s. It was built by a bunch of geeks who weren't just interested in making a quick buck.

Skype on iPhone (from Apple) and be able to be reached anywhere at anytime ( whenever you like, got to love these software settings ;) ) and talk for a fixed price (??) to other Skypers and possibly landlines?, domestic and internationally would be quite great :D
