us.accessories.skype.com— In July Skype will offer a WiFi Phone that allows you to use Skype WITHOUT a PC for $300. Totally worth it, so long skype keeps their calling any phone from US and Canada for free.

So In cities that are considering installing free wifi access for free, and apparently there are many cities that have looked into this and are considering it, this phone could easily replace cell phones very quickly, world wide wi fi access isn't that far off, and with stuff like this, cell phones are going to change very quickly. Im excited
It needs to have GSM as well, for when WiFi is not available. Then they would have a winner IMO. Skype at home/in the office, GSM when out and about.nnI have a SonyEricsson T630, and it looks extremely similar to the NetGear Skype phone.
I really think people are thinking too small here... what makes this phone (or any wifi phone that can use Skype) so great is if you have family/friends overseas. If you read through Skype they have the great system of SkypeIn (<a class="user" href="http://www.skype.com/products/skypein/).">http://www.skype.com/products/skypein/).</a> Meaning you can buy a phone number in any other country they offer and a normal phone call can then be directed to your new Skype phone which is always on whether you are at your computer or not. Meaning anyone can get a hold of you when they want! That's why this is so great, not the free out going calls, but the "free for friends" incoming calls. You pay under $40 a year and they can reach you when ever they feel like... Basically my best friend is moving to Ireland in September for 2 years. Her family and her husband's family are wanting a cheap way to talk to them. $40 a year for a number in the US that will reach them for unlimited free calling in Ireland? Yeah I'd say this is great. And as a side to JPhilipson... if you added "Wifi" to your title people might have thought more about your version of this, it's all about how you sell your story!
hi everyone,i really believe this is good but i am going for the dell axim X51v and skype.i live in brazil and cell phone company charges more than international call costs for local mobile calls.it is absurd.i even started using voipdiscount.com because it was free, but it is not as good as skype and not free anymore.one good thing i believe is the fon.com revolution. share your wifi network and roam the world for free.i read that both skype and google put money in it.anyway, i am really interested in all this. the voip / wifi combo to end cell phones fast.all the best, leo
