engadget.com — When they said "Tuesday," they meant it. Not long ago, the clock struck midnight in the Land of the Rising Sun, and sure enough, the bona fide Skype application (v1.0.0.63) for Apple's iPhone has gone live. It's absolutely free to download, too! We're fully expecting it to roll out elsewhere as Tuesday (March 31st) arrives in various time zones.

Awesome, works, thanks!!! Thats ridiculous that it doesn't work in Canada, but at least this is a nice work around.

I just tried VoIPover3g and Skype doesn't buy it. The Skype app itself crashes regularly without any input. At least they have finally released it; it can only get better!

What I'm getting at is that I can ring 0800 numbers or US 1-800 numbers free from my mobile now, if I try do that by calling I'll get charged. So there's definitely some point in having it in addition to using it abroad or with friends with iPhones.

The latest Mobile Substrate update fixes the crash, and enables voipover3g now.

I make unlimited calls to any number in the US and Canada for $30 a year while I'm on my wifi using Skype. Who still has a home phone?

iPhone app is absolutely fantastic. You can use WiFi to call your mates for free! Well, not on T-Mobile, unfortunately ( http://digg.com/apple/EC_antitrust_case_on_the_way ... ) but at least anywhere else. And even the Voicemail works http://digg.com/apple/How_to_set_up_Skype_Voicemai ... !
