You know, I consider myself pretty technical savvy - if it's this damn hard for me to get something that is supposedly free to work I guarantee the average user will not spend half as much time and will move on. Same as everyone else - keeps telling me I need to buy credit AND I CAN'T GET AROUND THIS! - how is that free?!?!?

Well, if you just click "Call Phones" which is what I was doing YOU DON'T GET THE DIALPAD so you CAN'T DIAL squat without getting a dialog that you CAN'T GET PAST without buying credits.The problem was "View Dialpad" was not checked in my Skype. Once I checked that, I was good to go. Took me quite a while to figure this out and the way realized it was that my other PC had it checked already. So there WAS a reason I was having trouble and it was very simple but inevitably I had to help myself - so who is really the smart one?!?!

For those who are in Canada/US, I assume you had the problem. I had it also, but not until I made a phone call with skypein with my firends (who, of couse, has skype) on internet; after that I could make free calls within the Canada and the US! That's what happened to me...

This is a great plus for VOIP and this is a nice test for Skype to see how they can grow from this. I hope this will soon kick in to Europe and soon Global. I really do not mind paying a set fee for an account, monthly - to call for free 24/7 > globally. Keep it up Skype and keep improving your services. One of the things I miss is getting 10+ conference skype settings on the Mac.
