You are correct - thanks for pointing that out. I've updated the site to show an image of the new video iPod.I think in some ways the iPod does have better specs, including the support for more file formats and better battery life. The social aspect of Zune is interesting, and may take off. I suspect if it does, Apple will come out with its version of Wireless and put their own usual elegance and innovation into that direction. Please let me know of any errors in the side-by-side specs - thanks.- Zunerama
This were not all posted at the same time. Within the span of a few days- yes. At the same time- no. Microsoft probably listed a summary of the features a few days ago and all of these blogs made a post that compared them in the most logical way- a side-by-side chart. Some of the charts were probably taken and reformatted from some of the other blogs. Saying that Microsoft is behind this is a baseless attack on Microsoft for no reason other than you like Apple more.
Well, my neighbor recently switched his clinic from a dozen Tablet PCs to UMPCs and it seems to be a success in every aspect when treating his patients. I guess maybe since you don't see every kid on the street carrying one like an affordable iPod, it's a "flop." Then again, I hardly ever see Tablet PCs at my local Starbucks. But to go even further...I've NEVER seen a Mac being used in any kind of medical facility. But hey! ...that's just more of the over-hyped, right?
Arghh, you are right - thank you. I've updated the larger image for iPod, and got the distortion out of the Zune pic. Also I updated the display sizes so the images reflect the fact that Zune is 4.4" in length vs the video iPod's more compact 4.1" length.
Some good comparison would have been to say the opposite :iTunes integration : Zune none, iPod yesOr even better, some REAL comparison on CONTENT :Number of movies : Zune none, iPod a lotNumber of songs : Zune a couple, iPod a lot.
Yeah how about scaling the iPod down to make it actually scaled to the Zune, update it saying the iPod has 640x480 and last but not least, add the "get an iPod" option to your blog, obviously if people see the comparisons, some people would want an iPod instead. Not just a Zune.
I don't know if someone's already commented on this, but the frontpage of Zunescene.com has a strangely Republican slant. If you scroll down the poorly laid out page, you'll find a blurb titled "I invented the Zune" with a photo of Al Gore next to it:"Former VP sues Microsoft for patent infringement: "I invented it, and by golly if they want to sell it they have to pay." Al also holds patents on the internet and the wheel. Proceeds from his latest books: "The World is Over" and "How to claim you invented stuff for money" will go to a seeing eye dog charity foundation. The dogs can discern a dangling chad from a dimpled one, and are not intended for the blind."What does Al Gore's stance on global warming have anything to do with the Zune?Even stranger is the headline is the bit on Rush Limbaugh."The US Surgeon General has spoken out against listening to excessive amounts of mp3's, especially for the older population that aren't used to all the activity. Microsoft is now required to warn people about having the zune on for over 4 hours during any television commercials they choose to run. Rush Limbaugh, a well known beta tester, has been avoiding the subject on his radio show after being caught exceeding the limit at an airport."Scroll down further and you'll reach my favorite: the headline "Impress your friends" with a photograph of Condoleeza Rice whispering into Colin Powell's ear. President George Bush is also on the right side of the image.Interesting, Bush has admitted to owning an iPod.
Anisty:Alex and Kevin were wrong, and it wouldn't be the first time. Alex said it himself, they're not guaranteeing any news accuracy on diggnation. You seriously believe that the RIAA will let people copy MP3s wirelessly using Zunes without any restrictions? There may not be DRM added to individual tunes you share, but the Zune will act as a secure/encrypted media "vault" that will prevent you from copying back this music to your computer, and will impose the same 3x3 restrictions on unprotected music.
shark72, you're missing the point. When Apple announce their new players, lots of blogs post the information. You're right, but they are existing blogs, reporting news as they always have done.Any existing pro-Microsoft blog posting the Zune specs, I wouldn't have a problem with either, as they are reporting news as they always have done. What's different here is that Microsoft release a new product, 'The Zune' and all of a sudden, dozens of brand new Zune blogs crop up, all with the same info, the same spin, and in some cases even the same comments! This is Microsoft using a PR agency to create 'spontaneous customer support' in the community - they are creating the blogs!Microsoft is well known for this. During the anti-trust trials they seeded a letter writing campaign with pro-Microsoft diatribes from ordinary Joe's. This is normal behaviour for them.<a class="user" href="http://www.luga.at/mailing-lists/rr/2001/08/msg00011.html">http://www.luga.at/mailing-lists/rr/2001/08/msg00011.html</a>Anybody who doesn't see this is a Microsoft fanboy, on their payroll, or extremely naive.Just for the record, I am pro-Apple & anti-Microsoft, but if Apple stooped this low, I'd have to question my allegiance.Correct me if I'm wrong, but Apple did not have to do this in order to make the iPod sell.It just shows how desparate and pissed off Microsoft is.
Yes, Apple is brilliant at marketing and making things look pretty.Too bad the slightly more expensive ipod didn't do what I wanted to do, so fortunately not all of the other manufacturers have given up. Sadly, it appears there won't be a successor (maybe...) to my Rio Carbon, because it was a lot closer to my ideal player than the ipod.
You guys are just mad that you dont have the zune.. actually I have read lotsa good things about the Zune on different web-sites.. Sorry to say that the IPOD craze is over...I never had intentions of buying an IPOD , as a matter of fact never had intentions of just owning a MP3 player period but when I saw the new Zune.. It caught my eye... so what if its not as sleek.. I bet it would outlast the IPOD any day ... Seems more durable and long lasting if you ask me... besides all the little gadget that ipod has .. I'm pretty sure Zune will catch up in no time.... IPODs been out for what?? 5 yrs??? Give it time.. It'll blow up like XBOX~!!! So now what??? You guys think I work for microsoft too??? GET A LIFE and get off IPODS jock~!!!!!

If recent history* has taught me anything it's this: Zune + Digg = FlameWar!!Every Zune article is now a battleground.*For fun, pick a user (myself included, to be fair) from any of the following links and see how often the same argument is made:<a class="user" href="http://digg.com/apple/iPod_vs_Zune_SMACKDOWN">http://digg.com/apple/iPod_vs_Zune_SMACKDOWN</a><a class="user" href="http://digg.com/gadgets/Five_Reasons_Zune_May_Kill_iPod">http://digg.com/gadgets/Five_Reasons_Zune_May_Kill_iPod</a><a class="user" href="http://digg.com/gadgets/Zune_and_iPod_Photo_Comparison">http://digg.com/gadgets/Zune_and_iPod_Photo_Comparison</a><a class="user" href="http://digg.com/gadgets/Microsoft_sets_price_for_Zune_songs">http://digg.com/gadgets/Microsoft_sets_price_for_Zune_songs</a><a class="user" href="http://digg.com/tech_news/Zune_It_s_the_Aboriginal_word_for_Loss_Leader">http://digg.com/tech_news/Zune_It_s_the_Aboriginal_word_for_Loss_Leader</a><a class="user" href="http://digg.com/gadgets/Diggnation_on_a_Zune">http://digg.com/gadgets/Diggnation_on_a_Zune</a>

From Zune features on <a class="user" href="http://www.zunevideoconverter.com/microsoft_zune_features.html">http://www.zunevideoconverter.com/microsoft_zune_features.html</a> , I think Zune will be better than iPod at Wi-Fi, FM radio, and preloaded content. Maybe the downloading service is better than iTunes. Any ideas? iPod or Zune will you purchase in this holiday season?
