telegraph.co.uk— A six-year-old boy got an extraterrestrial surprise when he went to collect eggs from his flock of hens and found a meteorite in his garden. It's exciting to think how far the rock has travelled.

Right--I don't buy the conclusion. For starters, the shape is odd for a rock that's streaked through the atmosphere. It looks more like a piece of volcanic that's broken and weathered. Or something from a smelter. So I'm skeptical until an expert confirms.
I don't think that part happened but it is funny! Are you the boy who found it? If you are then congratulations on this one if a kind find. The closest thing I have ever found like this is a great white sharks tooth, although technically I didn't "find" it because it was from my cousin. It is very big (about 5 inches) so maybe we could trade or maybe just swap for a little while so we could show our friends. Let me know "friend"!!! He he ; )
He probably forgot about taking a dump in his backyard during the winter, then found this rough textured rock and was like "this looks really familiar....naw, it couldn't be."
He's gotta throw it into a volcano or else the alien will come looking for it. (meteor=the ring alien=sauron) For those who are totally oblivious to the Lord of the Rings

And the Sun isn't standing still either. Don't know what that would bring our speed up to.
