kutv.com— This turtle spent the beginning of it's life stuck inside one of those plastic 6 pack tops. The video shows how the turtle grew everywhere else except it's midsection. Don't forget to cut those plastic rings.

Here's a better solution:Don't dump my trash in the ocean and then it won't matter whether I cut the rings or not.Am I the only one who's bothered by the idea that it's my responsibility to make sure animals aren't harmed when my trash ends up in the ocean? It's not like I'm down at the beach throwing 6-pack rings into the water. I put it in the trash can and I assume that the people who are paid to take it away will dispose of it properly. There's probably a lot of other stuff that I throw out that doesn't belong in the ocean either (ie - pretty much anything that's not biodegradeable... batteries, empty aerosol cans, aluminum foil, etc.).I know most people will say, well it ends up there anyway so you should still cut them up. Makes sense I guess... but more of the blame should pe put on the people who are somehow allowing the trash to end up in the ocean in the first place.
I guess none of you got the point. My point is, that since other species aren't considerate of us, I see no reason to go out of my way to care about them more than I do my own species. I don't litter and create excess pollution because I don't want to die in an uninhabitable landfill, but I don't feel the need to go, "I feel so sorry for that animal."Moved by my lack of respect for nature? Hah. What about the lack of respect for our own first. I actually find it rather sick the way Diggers treat other humans but somehow turn around and feel all soft for this f**king turtle. The average of the comments here are, "I feel sorry for the turtle, stupid fat kid!" What happened to that cruelty for the turtle, why not "Stupid turtle" for getting caught in the rings. No I don't see a dog as a waste of space, I see it as a pet, if you want to protect your pet that's fine but if a dog rips your kid's arm off are you still going to have the same perspective? "Damn, but it's an animal, it needs our compassion, it doesn't understand, so lets feel sorry for it like idiots.""Oh great! So now you're saying Wales harbours terrorists or something?!? Bloody Americans want to attack countries at the drop of a hat!! What did we ever do to you?!?!? :)"That's right, bloody Wales is full of terrorist laser eyed hell-whales and kamikaze kangaroos previously used in the Australian-American war. Grammar nazis have nothing insightful to say, so because they have to make a comment they look for technical errors in language to nitpick at.
I thought they had banned them here in the US. There was a lot of awareness generated about them back in the middle eighties. I seem to recall some programs promoting cutting the rings, or avoiding the purchase of products that used them. Then they introduced rings with tabs that allowed you to tear the rings to remove the soda. For a while, I didn't see a lot of product with the rings, but they seem to be making a comback.
