Interesting. I was discussing this very concept with a coworker a few weeks ago (not seriously, but saying it would be funny to see a hybrid internal combustion/steam-powered vehicle which used excess heat to boil water and run it through a turbine). Small world.

Gives a whole new meaning to a flooded engine. But why can't they reuse the water that converted to steam. With modern vehicles you see more and more water running out the ehaust pipe because of the moisture created by the more and more effecient engines. If this can be used and the moisture from the steam can be recycled, I can see where this can be feasible with a limited amount of water. Engine cylinders and pistons may have to be either ceramic or stainless steel but the added cost of doing this may be well worth it in the end.

There is a six stroke engine invented by four engineering students from India( Aaron George , Arun k Nair , Boby sebastian , Krishnaraj ) . An article regarding the engine is published in the Newindpress (subscription), India - Sep 3, 2006 Title: CET students kickstart a six-stroke engine.but i havnt found any information regarding how the engine works. If anyone knows , do let me knowdrakefroster@yahoo.co.inhttp://www.newindpress.com/NewsItems.asp?ID=IEO20060903112344&Topic=0&Title=Thiruvananthapuram&Page=O
