nytimes.com — It premiers in 10 weeks, but the writers, animators and director of "The Simpsons Movie" are still working out the basics, including the story. Details are scarce, but look for the mob scene that will include every Simpsons character ever.

I would go see it if it was just the old episodes "The Monorail" "Bart Sells His Soul" "Fat Disability Homer" back to back. Maybe the bowling one too...Ps Batman's a scientist.

It'll be worth it If they get just one classic line like:"My cat's breath smells like cat food.""Anything's possible with Commander Cuckoo Bananas in charge.""Stop saying 'Hawaii' in there!""That monkey is going to pay."

I had the pleasure of sitting in on a Simpsons table read a few weeks ago at the Fox lot with the entire gang. One of the producers said there's not an animator in town that isn't working on this movie right now because of the ongoing rewrites and updates. He also said they have probably produced enough footage to produce 5 movies. It's interesting that it's being animated locally as well as overseas. I got the undeniable feeling they are doing this movie more for the fans than for the money. They are putting in ridiculous hours since they are still on their regular show schedule as well. Some of the actors literally ran out of the trailer after the script reading to get to a recording session for the movie. The detractors can run smack all they want, but you cannot take away from the incredible success this show has had.

How many of you have actually been watching lately? The show turned to a fairly big waste of time for a few years and I stopped making a point of catching the episodes, but since maybe season 16 (I think it's season 18 now), the quality has really been returning. The freshness and originality is slipping back in. I don't know where it's coming from or why it disappeared, but it's really great to see. As long as they don't make a habit of this and start cranking out sloppy movies, I think this definitely is not going to kill the Simpsons and will instead just be a fun aside.
