"We don't need to send our paragraphs through a compiler"No, but some people on Digg do need to run it through an interpreter."it's immediately recognizable as wrong by anyone who knows the right way."This is exactly true - we can understand him because we know what he meant to say. It breaks down as soon as a foreign reader comes along and you don't follow the rules. If you're relying on people inferring your meaning then you can only talk to people who use the exact same form of language as you do. That's less likely if you're commenting on international (though mainly English) sites.
This is pretty amazing. Not that it's news that disks are affected by vibration, but how little noise created a huge increase in latency. The higher density the drives, the more susceptible they become to this sort of interference.

The best reason I can think of for encoding video while playing a game is, fancy that, recording your gameplay.
