The budget is not a mere $800. She spends time doing surveys and other online offers to get free gift cards which she then uses as part of her budget. $800 is just her personal cash outlay.
s**t seriously? Tell me your secrets! I spend $600 a month for one person and I don't eat out very often. Is it just because the only convenient supermarket for me is Whole Foods?
It's funny - a lot of people here bring this up - except that what she's buying is stuff a LOT of households already buy anyway- with ten times the food budget.... I doubt she's really eating much less healthy than an average American household. That said - the average American diet is NOT healthy. :)
I bet a lot of the cost of food is buying imported stuff out of season. At least here in the UK it would be, I guess in the US that's less of an issue because it's a bigger country with a much wider range of climates, but I guess there's still costs involved in driving oranges up from Florida or wherever.
