Obama's policies are rooted in control. Socialism is about control. You must study the economics behind socialism to understand. The flowery words of a politician will never reveal the nature of their policies. Only a study of history and economics with a close examination of the politicians record and statement will reveal the truth. Obama is a good Orator, but he's no MLK, and he is nowhere near the genius MLK was.The mistake people make is looking at political systems as static. In actuality the political system is a 'state' within a society. Societies progress from a free form of government to totalitarian fascism. Representative Republic is a form of government that puts the breaks on the slide to totalitarianism. It provides 'speed bumps', so to speak. The founders recognized this and separation of powers is a means of resetting the clock occasionally. Socialistic policies are a symptom of the slide into Totalitarianism. The FLQ crisis are you serious? That happened when Trudeau was Prime Minister. The reason why there's not much motivation is because the PM is just voted in by their party, unlike the US presidency which is separate from the senate, and congress. If you want to get rid of the PM (or premiere for the provinces) the majority party can force him out of office, or a vote of no confidence can occur. While in the US the only way to oust the President is to impeach him and then put him on trial in the Senate. So in the US almost 10% of the Presidents assassinated, shot at or died under mysterious circumstances. How many Canadian PM's have left office due to violence?
