Interesting. I think the web enhances serendipity rather than limits it, but it probably depends on the resources you use. Browsing sites like BoingBoing and digg I come across many interesting articles I don't find by reading the newspaper, and certainly wouldn't find browsing in a library. That's what makes digg so addictive.
