Honestly, its sad that any pork has to happen. Regardless of party. I'm annoyed that Democrats had to be enticed to vote with a bill that the majority of Americans already support. Why do we keep electing cowards? This bill should go regardless..anybody talking about 'pork' should probably keep it to themselves and check their voting history. I realize its how government works...but lets get serious about this war. No more spring breaks, weekends off, etc. Get to work and fix the mess that is Iraq.

Of course there's hipocrisy here - it's politics. What's different is that the Democrats have lumped pork on purpose into this bill knowing it won't get passed, so that when '08 rolls around, they can tell their constituents (and the rest of America) that the Republicans voted against pork spending that would have helped their local communities. The Republicans deserved to be voted out of office, but with the Democrats playing politics just as the Republicans did, neither of them deserve to be in power. I think it's time to change who deserves to be in power (read: independents that want to truly serve their country).

yeah, it still doesn't change the fact that it's PORK spending in exchange for political votes at the expense of the US' reputation and the troops' welfare.whoever complained doesn't matter, and you can shout "HYPOCRISY" from the rooftops, it still was about a bunch of PORK spending, orchestrated majestically by the democrats to "buy" the votes that they need for their war surrender pet project.

Dbcooper700 how do you win against an army that wears no uniform and has no territory. Number 2 you can't win a war on terror just like you can't win the war on drugs. You might as well fight the tide. A really smart Major said, " they trade space for time." That means no matter what you do they have the advantage. They pick the time to fight and they pick the place to start it. Not only that what are the conditions to "win." In order to win you have to know the conditions that would result in a win, so what are they... Yeah not happening there is no winning against a non uniformed army with that much ammo and explosives. Oh and did i mention there using chlorine gas now. Thats got to be a crappy way to die.

I tend to agree. This bill contains relatively few pork projects (relative to other spending bills) and it should be pretty easy to identify the small number of culprits who made their "yes" votes contingent on bringing home the bacon. I personally have a hard time believing they were that stupid that they didn't think that sort of politics on an anti-war bill would be noticed. They don't deserve to be there for reason that alone.
