prescriptions.blogs.nytimes.com — The Senate majority leader, Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, said Senate leaders “have a broad agreement” on dropping a government-run plan from the health care bill, and that the Congressional Budget Office would review the implications of such a move on the budget.

"I agree, the postal service is a disgrace. Also, highways, police, fire, etc."Yes I agree too, any businesses that relies on forced redistribution of wealth (i.e. forced tax) to pay for its employees lavish benefits package is most certainly a disgrace. Besides, private organizations already exist that could handle regular mail (i.e. letters) thus implying that the government is no longer needed to perform this duty.Highways are almost entirely built by private contractors paid for largely by voluntary tax dollars (i.e. gas tax) so I'd venture to say without the government, we'd still have highways. Authoritarians take note, I'm a libertarian and I said gas tax was voluntary and acceptable... would an anarchist agree? No f'ing way.Police is a decent example except for the fact that they don't really prevent crime, they merely show up after the fact to perform clerical duties. Personally, I'd rather be able to voluntary chose which police organization to protect me rather than grant the government a monopoly in force.Fire is a terrible example because those could very easily be replaced by privatized or charitable organizations with minimal moral hazard. Where I grew up, the fire station was entirely funded by donations and entirely staffed by volunteers. That may not be possible in larger cities but, never-the-less, that one example proves firefighting exist without the government.

Well, we should most certainly abolish Federal Air Traffic Control, it is not specified in the constitution and affects only specific groups. The interstate highway system has to go. Not in the Constitution, and only specific groups affected.

It's not. I have FEHBP. The lower tier programs (Aetna) suck balls and are very restrictive, prescription drugs aren't any lower than typical programs, and office/specialist visits range from $25.00 to $60.00 depending. Hell Aetna isn't even that "cheap" in comparison to what is already available to the general pupblic. The tiers with better services and cheaper up front costs, are expensive as hell, just like typical insurance that the rest of the population has. We may have more choices on a state by state basis, but the costs and services are still abysmal. So welcome to the party....

No one is surprised Republicans opposed this bill. The biggest shame is the fact that certain Democrats helped them to kill it. Those that did can probably kiss re-election good bye...

Yea you missed my point. Obama was by far the most qualified but he beats around the bush too much with bipartisanship and trying to play center politics. We wanted a liberal thats why we elected him so be a f**king liberal, the nut jobs are going to call him a "radical" liberal either way.

ma man...i'm an ex libertarian. i love the ideals. but to get there requires a reality we haven't reached yet. we need to move a little more to the left (for social issues). We need to get rid of the f**king Fed. then...well, i can go on, but i'm no longer a utopianist. so f**k ppl who voted me down w/out posting a comment or asking anything like LinuxP did. (a dig up for u)I'm a libertarian at heart, but right now, libertarians are in lalal land and too busy throwing "tea parties" instead of voting the corrupt idiots out of washington. I stand by my statement.-peace/bites his thumb at the haters.
