This is shocking - not a bit surprised though. What else would you expect from a politician? Honesty and transparency are not words that spring to mind. Would not let my daughter marry one.The pharm. industry must be very afraid - I expect they will be launching their own version shortly though, when all of a sudden it will be the best solution yet...

This outburst from Sen Lautenberg is simply proof that more investigating needs to be done by his staffers. Is he aware that you can use non-nicotine solutions in the electronic cigarette? There are congressman who do smoke the e-cig. Yup... A Senator acting on the behalf of major contributors... Who'd a ever suspected. I use one of these products, and it's amazing. I'm not proud of the fact that I've been a smoker on and off since I was fifteen, and never quite able to completely kick the habit - until now. Once medical testing is done (if it's allowed by the Gov't and Big Pharma) I am confident these will be touted as a great cessation aid. Until then, they're a legal (for now) smoking alternative. I love having alternatives. They keep me from having only one choice... a choice I'd rather not have to ever make again. Let's hope Representative Stearns and his fellow e-cig users on The Hill can let common sense prevail.

Corporate greed has buried many potentially life saving innovations, hopefully they won't murder us over this one too.
