auto.howstuffworks.com — Parallel parking is an ordeal for many drivers, but with parking space limited in big cities, squeezing your car into a tiny space is a vital skill. It's seldom an easy task, and it can lead to traffic tie-ups, frazzled nerves and bent fenders. Fortunately, technology has an answer ? cars that park themselves. Here's how they work.

Please make a car that will drive itself; has to be much safer than most of the people on the road today even if it uses Windows and crashes every hour...

I'm curious. The article says that a car that can parallel park by itself could fit into smaller spaces, right? Isn't that going to make it harder for anyone who doesn't have a self-parking car to get out?

This has just reminded me of a headline the BBC ran a couple of years ago.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3198619.stmNow, think about it ... surely that's someone at their newsdesk trying to be funny.

bollocks. if you can't parallel park you don't deserve to have a license. ffs. it's not THAT hard.

I'm one of them. I prefer the combination of the middle finger and running someone off the road. Oh yea, and I've parallel parked twice my whole life.

I can only imagine an injury sustained by an auto-park victim who just happened to be in the car's way...Lazy, but nifty.
