what people are forgetting, is that in the end no race will "win" because the tribes merge into each other after a few weeks pass by. CBS will get the novelty viewers for the first month or so maybe, then the tribes merge into one, and voila!........you'll have the same show you had last year.

I see it as more of a marketing thing than anything. That said, I'll go along with disallowing this, if the same people complaining will agree to cancel all of the ethnicity-specific awards shows and television channels.

The year they split the teams by men and women, I did find it interesting and loved cheering for the women. But the issue this season is the cultural context. In our history, we've rounded up people of Asian descent, kept people of African descent in separate schools, restrooms, etc., and now we have this immigration debate that is focused on Latinos but not other immigrants. Everything takes place in a context, and given the context in the U.S., this seems like a bad, bad plan. I'm still going to watch one episode to see how they handle it. There might be a way to pull it off, but I can't think of what it would be.

I have to say that as a white chick, I am relieved that at least at first, any white rednecks (whom they seem to always find) will only be able to say ignorant things to each other.

I'm trying to reply to the race vs. religion discussion on being Jewish.I think it depends on where you live. In Texas, it's a religion where people can convert to and from. But my college roommate's cousin was placed in "shiva" (I think that's how it's spelled.) for marrying a non-Jew. Essentially her children can never be "Jewish" because they aren't from a "pure" marriage. My roommate was forbidden to have any communication with her cousin because she was now "dead" to the family.In a case like that, maybe the proper term is "culture" rather than race.And before this becomes a Jew bashing session, I'm sure I could locate at least three or four other mainstream religions with similar policies.

I want to see a real survivor show, this isn't surviving, this is, playing games so you can get shampoo to bathe, I would LOVE to see about 20 people dropped in the middle of an island, with a radio, camera, and survival knife, and told to survive, if you don't think you can go on anymore, just radio a rescue team to get you, whoever lasts the longest, wins, it's as simple as that, just figure that seems more like a show that would be called Survivor, I mean, when I watched the first one, it was VERY missleading to me, I thought that is what I would see, but what I saw was mini-games for food that wouldn't readily be available to you, just rediculous stuff, there's actually a show on Discovery I believe that's called Survivor Man, he just goes somewhere with nothing for a week, it's interesting, BUT the Survivor 13 show, no way, CBS can't pull a good show out of their..... nevermind, hah, this will flop, it's going to envoke the ever so touchy racism topic that we all shy from, I don't believe in racism I just believe in stupid people, sure I'm white, I'm a white male, but there isn't a damn thing about that that is going to make me different from a black man, we bleed red, if you want to seperate people, do it by blood type, it seems more logical, as far is the seperation of race thing, in this day and age, in america, unless you come from a differnet country and were born and raised there, same with your parents, and so on and so on, we're all mixed breeds....
