engadget.com— A German Website had posted information of Sega Re-releasing the Dreamcast, though(as far as I can tell) the information has been pulled... The above link is to engadget and explains the whole subject

The DC was hated in Japan, mainly because of the fact that Sega stopped production and flopped all of it's other systems...Wether they are still selling well in Japan is out of my league, but I would think not..And exactly as Nefarious stated... And on top of that, this could(as I stated) be just a test run, see how they can do in the market if they were to begin development on a new system.
The Dreamcast rocksIf they could modernize it a bit -- quiter fan and drive plus offer wireless controllers similar to the Wavebird -- I would be in heaven.I would pay $100 for one like that.Re-release the Saturn while you're at it too :)
Contrary to popular belief, PS2 "hype" isn't what killed off the DC. What killed off the DC was DVD, or, rather, the fact that the PS2 had a DVD drive and the DC didn't. If Sega had gone with a DVD drive in the DC, chances are they'd still be in the hardware business. And, jumjum, they HAD to drop the price of the DC because, after selling TONS of them, faster, in fact, than they could make them, the PS2 was released and, despite its lackluster launch lineup, the Japanese were buying PS2s hand over fist because of their DVD capabilities. Akihabara was rife with DVD stores that sprung up where gaming stores had once stood and they were demoing DVD movies on the PS2. The same thing happened in the US. Tons of people bought the PS2 because it was a relatively cheap entry into the DVD market while having a pretty darned nice game console attached. Sega went from selling more Dreamcasts than they could make to having warehouses full of the awesome little white boxes stacked to the ceilings and NO ONE was buying them. Yeah, Sony's PS2 hype probably caused a small segment of people to hold off on the DC, but it isn't what killed it. One strategic mistake is what doomed the DC. And dang, I do love my Dreamcast (9.9.99 model, still going strong). Oh, and I'm sure pirating didn't help matters, either.
I loved Shenmue. It was one of those games where you either loved it or hated it. And now I'm playing Shenmue 2, I was so excited that I found it on the net. Screw the Xbox version.
I used to love my Dreamcast! The best thing about the system was playing House of the Dead or Mission Confidential with 2 gun controllers. Real cowboy interativity! Wish there was a Xbox emulator of this system!
SOunds Cool . I would love if sega made new games for it again. I still have my dreamcast which still looks brand new becasue I got it a year before they stopped making games for it. I would love to get some use for it again. It would be cool If sega was goign to make a Dreamcast2.
i still have a dreamcast and still game on itbut dreamcast could never have a DVD drive as the disk they used were GD-ROMS in less they can mod a DVD drive in to a GD-ROM like they did a CD-ROM then matybe the dreamcast would do ok and a faster processor so it dont lag on games like shen mue
