Once they synthesize a chemical that contains attributes of both THC and the anandanine, they create a process to manufacture it directly. Otherwise they would have to genetically engineer the sea urchins to produce a chemical of the shape and structure they want - which is a bit beyond science now (they can engineer bacteria to create chemicals, but it's difficult).So, short and sweet: they won't be slaughtering massive amounts of sea urchin just to get at a chemical that they created in a lab.
Benzodiazepines are not psychedelics, they're tranquilizers. Psychoactive != psychedelic. Most drugs are psychoactive, which merely means it has some psychological or cognitive effects. Psychedelics, on the other hand, produce distinct effects.
